Project: Wallpaper The Ceiling

Who says that you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
I've been working on remodeling the bathroom.  About two years ago, I purchased a clawfoot bathtub for the re-do.  I wanted the space to have a simple, clean, oldfashioned feel to it with the bathtub being the showpiece.  I'm always looking at Menard's for the old looking vinyl ceiling tiles to go on sale, but they never have enough for my project.

I was excited to find NU Wallpaper from the shop "Wall Pops."  It's tacky on the back, so you just peel off the backing and stick it to your surface.  You can pull it back up and readjust it, or pull it off when you want a new look.  I love this stuff.

After it's on the wall or ceiling, you really can't tell that it's wallpaper.

It comes in different patterns and styles and would be great for rentals or dorm rooms to give a more personal touch to your space.

The most important thing to remember when applying anything with a pattern is to line up the pattern.

I peeled off the backing as I went along and smoothed out the vinyl with a flat grouting tool.

I found mine on Amazon.  There is a boatload of patterns and designs on Amazon to choose from and all in one spot for you to browse.  I added some examples on the bottom of the post to give you an idea of what's out there.  Pick your fav and design the room around it. I'll show more of the bathroom redo in a later post.

I used the edge of the tool to push the vinyl into the corners.
Cut out around any openings, such as the vent or light fixtures, and leave about 1-inch overhang so that you won't see any gaps when the fixtures are installed.

Below are links to some examples of the many patterns and designs this wall/ceiling paper has to offer.  Find a room in your house that needs some love and make it your own.  I had enough of the vinyl left over from the bathroom to do the ceiling in the staircase area going to the basement.  And even some left over from that for junk journal projects.  Happy Day!
