Glitter Tumbler Project - 1st One
I had this idea to do a project for my granddaughter's pre-school class as Christmas gifts. I decided to make a glitter tumbler for each child, the director, and the teacher's aids. I found some inexpensive tumblers at Dollar General, watched a gazillion Youtube videos on "how to," and purchased my epoxy - which was the only thing besides the tumblers that I invested into this project. I always have Modge Podge on hand in the craft room and I had several containers of glitter from when I make bath bombs, so I was all set.
I was excited about this project because I wanted to learn to make these tumblers to take to market next summer and because I can use my Cricut machine in this project. I feel like I don't use the Cricut enough and I've been searching for different ways to incorporate it in the crafts that I do.
In all of the "how to" videos that I viewed, they all have a contraption that they've made up to rotate the cups as the epoxy is applied and for the drying process.
I didn't have the time to get the parts and assemble the rotisserie contraption for the Christmas project, but I am going to order the parts and make one because I think it is essential for the finished drying process.
I actually improvised a rotisserie for this project out of an apple peeler and a nerf football, my son got a good laugh out of this when I showed him the picture. It worked ok, but like I said, the reFurbished Mama is making one with a motor for the next time. 😀
For the girls, I made a unicorn theme tumbler and for the boys a dinosaur theme tumbler and for the teachers, I put a saying. Each tumbler has the individual name on it as well.
All in all, this was a fun project and the kids loved them. I'm excited to start making them for the markets and shows next summer, I have this vision of them all sparkling in the sunshine set up on display. They really are stunning after the epoxy sets and I love the holographic vinyl over the glitter.
